Who am I? I am a scholar who loves life and the planet I was created on. I am passionate and fun loving. But most of all, I am a gossip and blogger. A bard who loves to dig into the past, and reiterate other people’s misfortune, scandal, and adventures.
Through my journals I’ll take you on a journey into the unknown as lies and deceit are unravelled through the adventures and scrapes of our heroes and foes of Gwaine Wood.
How did I arrive at where I am today? People believe we are Fae as our kingdom lies on the cusps of theirs. There was a time we roamed the earth freely amongst the humans. But all that changed. Our existence is fading as our land is destroyed and we are forgotten by the new caretakers.
In my kingdom, I am the daughter of two of the Queen’s consorts. I am irrelevant in the line of hierarchy. A nobody who wandered up and down corridors unseen. Left to my own devices. Given the freedom to roam and explore a court full of life, laughter, and intrigue. To spy on secret rendezvous as I hide in the shadows of nooks and crannies. I have lived more centuries than you’ll ever remember.
My queen was here long before I was created. Ruling her people through wars which brought peace. A peace we have lived for three thousand years. Now that has gone, and our kingdom has fallen into seven provinces once more.
During one of my many explorations of my home, I came across an old man hidden in a room far from the main court. It was through him; my love of our lore grew. It was the old man, Trevelyan, who escorted my sister, Laurel, and I, to our first Summer Solstice, to celebrate the longest day of the year.
Fascinated by the stories of our people, it was then I knew I wanted to be a bard. A storyteller. To retell to others what I see and discover. To seep them into my joy at the beauty of the life we celebrated. From one summer festival, I fell in love with my people, and spent my life gathering this lore. It was at this summer festival I found my vocation and officially became Trevelyan’s apprentice bard.
Time has marched on. Now we move with the modern times. We are lost to the people of earth. No longer do they believe in our existence. I have wandered through your land, and once when I would be called bard, now I am nothing more than a blogger.
For more than a millennium, I travelled your world, witnessing many changes. Until recently, well a century or two, I was contented to travel. To learn and discover a new world as it unfolded before me. As it bloomed. That was, until the changes inflicted affected my world. That my homeland was brought into chaos.
Like most pilgrims, I often returned home to celebrate our festivals. However, my last return was different. Now there would be no leaving my realm. No more roaming a world I once loved. I have grown weary. I am tired with what I see.
I could start my story where everyone had lost hope, and I, and others, wonder if we can salvage the destruction that has shattered our homes and world. Instead, I will take you on a journey of happier times. When we lived in peace, and the only foe we had were the shadows of the night. Time before friends became foe.
